The Ambassador of India to UAE, appreciated the role of BITS-Pilani in Dubai for disseminating quality education and its growth in strength from year to year.
The Chairman, Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat, University Grants Commission noted the phenomenal growth by BITS, Pilani-Dubai Campus in a short duration both qualitatively and quantitatively. Excerpts from his speech.

I am indeed very happy to be here on the invitation of Director, BITS, Pilani-Dubai and this provided us an opportunity to have a first hand account of the institution which we have heard quite a lot about. I need not say that Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani back home in India is an institution of great repute and I can very well see the extension of that reputation here, extension of that standard and quality here.
Your role is more important here as I can see that there are about 1.2 million Indians here who are engaged in various kinds of jobs and obviously their children require education of quality. Going back home and securing admission is a difficult proposition. By establishing an institution here as an extension of the Deemed University, its a great job the institution has done.
I can very well imagine that you are here in this city, where you face international competition and you have to be on your toes in terms of standard and in terms of quality.
I can very well see the way your students are placed in various universities around the world and the fact that your students are getting 100% placement on the campus, itself speaks for your quality and standards. I, as in-charge of UGC and Mr. Sudeep Banerjee. Secretary, Department of Education, Government of India offer our support and cooperation to this institute as and when required in expanding further in service of the students.

It is a matter of great satisfaction for us to be here with you this morning. This is one of our main outposts of what we are capable of in our country and it is a show-case to the rest of the world. It is just as well that when our institutions started going abroad, the first was BITS, Pilani which had already distinguished itself in the country and therefore had a reputation to protect and nurture.
So it is therefore a matter of great luck that the first institution to set base here has been BITS, Pilani. I complement Prof. Ramachandran and his team who have already established this institute as a very vibrant presence in Dubai.
Each one of you in this institution is an Ambassador of Goodwill and for creating a new global order. You are performing here a very important role. We recognize that and salute you all. All of us in the Ministry are prepared to play whatever role is expected of us to support and help in furthering your efforts here
I feel quite emotional in being with you this morning and all our entire delegation is indeed very grateful to you for giving us this honour to be with you. I am sure you will achieve many more laurels and back home from India we will applaud at every achievement you make.
