The purpose of the Electrical Machines Laboratory is to conduct certain standard performance tests on machines and transformers to acquire familiarity with dynamic electrical machinery and transformers, measuring instruments, accessories and to build the confidence of working in an electrical environment. In EMEC Lab there are different AC and DC machines. There are two synchronous machines coupled with DC Shunt Motors, four DC Shunt identically coupled machines, two 3-Phase Induction machine coupled with DC Shunt machines and four Single Phase Transformers. A separate source is connected from the individual panels AC & DC and an ample load up to 100 Amperes can be connected to it. This lab is also equipped with a 100 Amperes rectifier, which is used to convert AC into DC Voltage.
Safety devices such as rubber mats, MCB (Miniature Circuit Breakers) are installed in the lab. Students can do the experiments in the safest possible way. No-Load Tests and Load-Tests are conducted on all machines. Different Range of Resistive Loads (both I-ph & 3-ph) are available to conduct Load Tests. Synchronous Panel is provided in the Lab for Parallel operation of synchronous machine & Bus bar supply. Both Digital and Analog meters are available for the purpose of measuring electrical parameters.
