- 1. Is TOEFL score required for all the students for admission to BITS, Pilani -Dubai this academic year?
No! The TOEFL test is not required for students who have completed their high school from English medium schools. Only students from Non-English medium schools must do the TOEFL and secure the required score to be eligible to apply for admission.
Visa Related Queries
1. Does the Institute provide visa to the students ?
- Yes, visa will be provided by the Institute on payment of the necessary fee and submission of relevant documents.
- The visa provided to the student is called as student residence visa.
- The students residence visa is provided for the purpose of education only.
- This visa is sponsored by Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV) through Dubai . International Academic City (DIAC).
- The Institute is only acting as a facilitator since the Institute coordinates between the students, DKV and DIAC for getting student visa.
- The student resident visa is valid for one year and should be subsequently renewed annually.
2. What are the documents required from the student for applying the visa ?
The following documents are mandatory for student residence visa application;
- Student visa application form.
- Student Enrolment Contract duly signed by the student.
- Original Bank Statement for Dhs.30,000/- or equivalent as per the enclosed.
- DKV guidelines along with a photocopy.
- Clear photo copy of the Passport with the validity period of 7 months - 3 Copies.
- Photocopy of Grade Sheet of Previous Semester (for existing students) or
Mark sheet of 12th or equivalent (for newly admitted students) - 3 Copies.
- Passport Size Photos -10 Nos.
- Stamp size Photos (for new applicant only) - 4 Nos.
- Original fee payment receipt of current semester tuition and visa fees.
- Fee payment receipt of Dhs. 250/- towards mandatory JAWAZ card issued by DKV & DIAC.
3. How much does the student pay for the visa ?
- The initial visa fee is AED 2100/- if the student is not already in UAE either as a resident or a visitor.
- For subsequent renewal the amount is AED 1500/-.
- Visa fee is subject to change from time to time as per the rules and regulations of Institute, DKV, DIAC and Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD).
4. What is JAWAZ Card ?
The JAWAZ card is a unique student ID and lifestyle card. This mandatory card is issued by the authority of DIAC and DKV for students. This is the local ID card which the student should carry all the time in U.A.E. With the Jawaz card the students can access DIAC facilities such as the Recreation Room as well as avail future discounts and services in DIAC and DKV.

Yes, the institute can facilitate student residence visa for such students as well.
- The process for applying a visa for such students is called as in-country and local amendment.
6. What are the documents required for in-country and local amendment ?
The student should submit the original passport with all the mandatory documents as answered for question No. 2 above along with original visa cancellation paper or visit visa copy (if the student is on the visit visa).
- In order to apply student residence visa for such students an additional amount of Dhs. 1700/- towards in-country local amendment should be paid.
7. How do the students apply for visa? Whom should the student should contact for the application of visa ?
The registered students should log on to the Institute website www.bitsdubai.com and download all the relevant forms & guidelines related to visa or click http://www.bitsdubai.com/visaguidelines.html
The downloaded visa forms should be duly filled and signed as per passport.
- All the relevant forms should be submitted to the Administration department of BPD (by existing students) / Admissions Department for (by newly admitted students).
8. How does the visa process happen ?
On receipt of the above documents, the residence visa (Entry Permit) is applied for the student.
Upon receipt of the student residence visa, the visa is scanned and sent through e-mail by the Institute to the student.
9. What has to be done by the students before they travel ?
The student should carry his/her U.A.E residence visa copy with them since it may be required for verification while purchasing the ticket as well as in the airport while boarding the flight. The student must inform his / her flight details (schedule) as given below to the Admissions or Administration office.
- Date of arrival
- Time of arrival
- Airport of arrival – Dubai Terminal 1/ Dubai Terminal 2/ Sharjah / Abudhabi etc
- Ticket PNR No
- Name of Airline
All the students are advised to land at Dubai or Sharjah if they want the original residence visa to be deposited at the airport and want to avail transport from airport to the Institute hostel.
For GCC students traveling by road, the Institute will neither deposit residence visa at the entry check post nor provide transport from the entry check post to the Institute. Such students have to make their own arrangements for the deposit of visa.
10. What should the student do on arrival at UAE ?
- On arrival, the student should collect the original visa deposited by the Institute at the visa collection counter in the airport .
- The student should proceed to the immigration counter for further formalities. Students are advised to keep their passports and the original visas safely.
- On the registration day the student should submit original passport and original residence visa at the visa collection counter set up in the Institute for student residence visa stamping process.
11. When will the VISA be stamped in the passport of the student ?
- After collecting students' passports and original residence visas, the Institute forwards the same to the DKV, DIAC and DNRD after the necessary formalities.
- Shortly the student will be called and taken for medical check up in the Government hospitals at U.A.E by the institute.
- After clearing the medical check up the student visa gets stamped in the passport.
- The visa stamping process takes a minimum of 4 weeks from the date of students arrival at U.A.E.
- Once the visa is stamped in the passport the student can travel any number of times on prior approval from Registrar.
- However the student cannot stay out of UAE for more than 180 days continuously.
The visa is provided for the specific purpose of education only.
- After completion of the program and before leaving the Institution, the students should legally cancel their student residence visa stamped on their passports as per U.A.E. Law.
- Failure to do so will result in serious consequences as per rules and regulations of the Institute and U.A.E Law.
- Even if the visa gets expired, the expired visa still needs to be cancelled through proper cancellation procedures.
- Visa cancellation is also applicable for the student who has stayed outside U.A.E. for more than 180 days continuously.
- Student should note that the visa cancellation cannot be done outside U.A.E.
- Only the visa sponsor can cancel the visa.
13. What is the process for visa cancellation ?
The student should submit the following mandatory documents for visa cancellation
- Passport
- Visa Cancellation Form (available in the Administration Department)
- Original receipt of visa cancellation fee payment as indicated by the Administration Department
Once the visa is cancelled the student can go out of the country.
